Hobbies & Personal Projects

Music

Music has been a major part of my life for over fifteen years, most notably through playing trombone. I’ve performed in a variety of ensembles both in school and beyond.

At Gonzaga University, I played in the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band for four years as first chair in my section, Jazz Band, and Bulldog Band (pep band). My absolute favorite music to play on trombone is classical. My high school had an exceptional music department and we played pieces such as Abram’s Pursuit, The Divine Comedy, and Take Me Home (Country Roads) (links are to our live performances). College pep band was also fun— going to every home game and traveling to Las Vegas for the WCC Tournament and with the women’s team for March Madness.

Outside of school ensembles, I played in a band with friends called GB&J, which performed local shows and released original music, where I was also the social media manager. After graduating, I am looking for opportunities to play music with others, but for now, practice trombone, guitar, and sometimes bass, at home. I also love writing music, whether it’s collaborating to write original songs or classical music compositions. I stay active in my local music community by attending live, mostly rock, shows and working as a band manager for a grunge band called Letterbomb.

Being a musician has shaped me beyond the music itself, teaching me valuable lessons, fostering lasting friendships, and opening doors to life-changing experiences. I will always be an advocate for having a creative outlet, and I’m grateful for the choices I’ve made to continue pursuing this passion.

Crafts/Fashion

I enjoy learning new crafting skills, such as the two examples shown. The first picture is an outfit I put together for the Seattle Torrent Barbie Night (2026), where I bedazzled the Barbie Movie’s pink cowgirl outfit to replicate Hilary Knight’s jersey. The second picture is an embroidery project I made for Chicago C2E2 (2023), replicating a “kefta” worn by Alina Starkov in the show Shadow and Bone.

I also occasionally post fashion-inspired content on my personal TikTok account, including the projects shown here and How to Style a PWHL Jersey, and sports social media concepts seen in Video Editing.

Travel

In Fall 2021, I studied abroad in Madrid, Spain for four months as part of my undergraduate education. Alongside my academic coursework, I engaged in cultural immersion and explored the city extensively, including its museums, historic sites, neighborhoods, and local culture. I also traveled throughout Spain and Europe, visiting cities such as Barcelona, Seville, Granada, Menorca, Athens, Paris, Stuttgart, and Lublin, where part of my family is from. This experience strengthened my adaptability, independence, and appreciation for different cultures and perspectives, and continues to shape my approach to learning and new environments. Traveling is something I genuinely enjoy, and I hope to have more opportunities to do so more in the future. In the meantime, I enjoy exploring locally and finding new places close to home.

Studying Classics

At Gonzaga, I minored in Classical Civilizations, took various classes in Ancient Greek history and language, and was part of Eta Sigma Phi. Some of my favorite classes included a history class on Alexander the Great and studying Attic Greek, translating texts such as the play Alcestis into English. I also had the opportunity to present a research project titled “From Ancient Greek to Modern Music: Understanding Classical Reception” at the Ancient Philosophy Society conference. When studying abroad in Madrid, one of my favorite trips outside of Spain was going to Athens and seeing the history I spent so much time reading about!

Women’s Sports Games

I love going to sports games, especially women’s teams! Gonzaga is known for basketball, and I attended every game playing trombone with the band. Now back in Tacoma/Seattle, I have attended Seattle Torrent, Seattle Storm, Tacoma Galaxy, and Seattle Majestics games, and am always looking for the opportunity to go to more and discover other teams to go cheer on.
